Today I cancelled both my Second Life accounts.
Why? The bottom line is that 80% of Second Life is pornography. I did a quick tour of the old virtual places I used to haunt, and without even trying I got into some conversations with some virtual "escorts". Harmless talking, but the conversations ended up distracting me for a few minutes when I should have invested those minutes elsewhere. And my marriage, and my Christian walk, doesn't even need even the appearance of me doing any evil right now. So Second Life goes bye bye, at least for now. The only painful thing was giving up my Avatar Necropolis Elvehjem, he had a big inventory with lots and lots of stuff. Oh well.
I'd like to allocate some time in the next month to write about all my experiences in Second Life, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
