Changes (I'm Leaving the Office to Work Off Site)

Well folks, sometimes life happens, and when it does, you have to make changes. It looks like I'm going to once again join the virtual workforce, meaning that I'll be moving out of cubeville back to kicking it in my underwear working from home :) In actuality that is the absolute wrong attitude to have, as I've telecommuted before hand and I know that treating it as a light thing will lead to a massive drop in productivity. So I have to take me working from home (or most likely shared office space somewhere) as if I was doing the most important job in the world and treat it with the utmost seriousness (I should be doing this anyway, but lately because of personal issues I haven't been, work has been tolerant, but time to give them full value for their dollar). So with that being said, for any of you reading my tweets or reading one of my blogs, there is going to be some changes.

  1. Most likely I will only be tweeting political links for about 45 minutes in the afternoon (right after I sign off for the day from my VPN). This sucks because I was actually getting to the point where I was getting relevant info out before many fellow political social media types, but oh well, few noticed anyway.
  2. If by the time I get to a story, and it has already been social media'ed to death, I'll probably let it slide, which will result in even fewer tweets on my end. I will try to focus more on unique stories that are more subtle, perhaps missed by most, but still relevant.
  3. I will probably spend more time retweeting people than finding links to political content myself, right now it is about 20/80, that mix will probably change to be more like 40/60.
  4. Though I'll always be a political beast, I think I will focus a bit more on technology.  I tend to focus on the dark side of human existence (politics being full of it), and it drains on me after awhile.  I enjoy simple to use but transformational technologies, and my profession rest on their mastery, and I've been neglecting my skill set for a while, so it is time to learn and retool. I'll blog/tweet about it while I go under a different guise.
  5. Since my day will actually be spent working rather than "just checking twitter for a minute", I'll reward myself by actually trying to add and create content in my off work hours. This will mean me relearning how to write in English rather than 140 charspeak and rebuilding that limited muscle in my head known as a brain so I think in depth rather than in width when writing.  My goal is to do one 15 minute "world update" video every other week and to write an article say every 3 out of  every 4 weeks for Associated Content and my blogs.
In the end, I'm a narcissist that likes to see myself out on the interwebs like everyone else, so I'll still keep firing away info, but at least for the foreseeable future, it will be on a more limited, but perhaps more focused, basis.  I hope you hang with me, I've met some great patriots,Christians, conspiracy theorist, fortean souls, and many people or differing political points of view that I still admire. I've had the privilege to change some minds, and I've had my mind changed about a few things in the process.  I've learned a lot through social media interactions, and even though I might have to fade out a little bit, I'm thankful for all the people I've interacted with.

I won't be gone, just less.  Hope you hang with me, and I'll do my best to hang with you, even if I can't be around as often.
