We got nailed by the remnants of a few hurricanes this weekend. On my way home I usually take one of two routes. Well, I took route number 2. About halfway home my wife gives me first a frantic message saying "Tornado seek shelter". She then immediately calls me, tells me the tornado sirens are going off at home, and begs me to get off the road and seek shelter. So I do, and I notice no rain any more, nadda. I ditched into a hotel where I knew free internet access was available, so I checked out the local warnings. Nothing. So after a few minutes I drive home.
Well, as it turns out, if I would have taken route #1, I would have been right at the spot where a small tornado touched down and tore up a few buildings.
Near miss #2 for me out here in Michigan. Thank you Jesus for having me take route 2. Who knows if I would have been at the exact spot or not, but I'm glad I wasn't around to find out.
Stupidly, I still want to see a tornado up reasonably close. But not at night when you can't see them coming. Glad I missed this one. Luckily only property got messed up, no one was hurt.
