Absolutely every attempt should be made to keep innocent deaths in a war to a minimum. But America's Stanley McChrystal would rather put American servicemen's lives at risk than risk bad PR.
Guess what? Bad PR only matters IF YOU CARE. If you want to win a war, you have to fight like you are fighting a war, not like you are trying to make friends.
It seems this commander is way over reacting, and if I was on the ground in Afghanistan, I would be a little frightened that I could no longer count on the friendly skies to blow up bad guys if I got into a scrape. I'm sure Stanley in his air conditioned command module doesn't know that fear.
